When Haunted Treasures first appeared in my Monopoly Go rotation, I treated it like a Halloween party favor: cute, slightly messy, and impossible to ignore once the pickaxes started piling up. The event I’m describing originally ran from 9AM EST on October 30 to 3PM EST on November 3, 2024, and it asked players to help Sofia dig through 25 increasingly cluttered boards for Halloween-themed loot. Because it’s 2026 now, I’d treat that exact calendar window as historical rather than gospel; if the dig event returns for a future Halloween season, confirm the live dates and reward list in your own game before spending pickaxes. The core loop is still the useful part: collect pickaxes, clear dirt, chase milestones, and decide when to push for the final Wild Sticker.

How I Approach the Dig Boards

Haunted Treasures is a dig event, not a dice-roll sprint. Each pickaxe clears one tile of dirt, unless that tile has an obstacle such as a spiderweb on top; webs double the number of hits required, so a single stubborn square can eat two pickaxes before it finally gives up. That detail matters because the boards grow larger and more cluttered as you climb through the 25 milestone levels. I learned to scan the board before tapping wildly, because clearing dirt in the wrong order can leave me short on pickaxes and staring at a nearly finished board like someone trying to assemble furniture with one screw left and no instructions.

My pickaxe routine is simple:

  • 🪓 Play the side events. Daily tournament leaderboards and center-screen events often include pickaxes as prizes while the dig event is live.

  • ✅ Finish Quick Wins every day. The three daily tasks reset at 9AM EST and can award pickaxe tokens during the event.

  • 🔎 Watch for bonus pickaxes on the board. Sometimes a dig reveals extra pickaxe tokens. It is not the most common prize, but every free hit counts.

Rewards Worth Digging For

There are 25 total milestone rewards in Haunted Treasures, and the list mixes dice, cash, sticker packs, and cosmetic goodies. The headline items for me are the Haunted Portrait shield skin after board 11, the Gargoyle Scottie board token after board 20, and the Wild Sticker at the very end for finishing all 25 milestones. A Wild Sticker is basically a skeleton key for whatever sticker collection is currently haunting my album; being able to choose a missing sticker is far more useful than another random pack that hands me a fourth copy of something I already own.

Here is the full milestone table from the version I played:

My Practical Strategy for 2026

If Haunted Treasures or a similar dig event returns in 2026, I would not hoard pickaxes forever. Hoarding them is like storing snowballs in a freezer for July: it feels silly until the moment it absolutely saves you, but the real value comes from spending them while the milestone rewards are still live. I usually push early for the sticker packs and dice, then slow down around the middle boards to make sure I have enough pickaxes for the shield skin and token. The final Wild Sticker is tempting, but I only chase it if my pickaxe stock looks healthy enough to finish all 25 boards without buying anything.

A dig board without enough pickaxes feels like trying to bail out a rowboat with a teaspoon—technically possible, deeply unwise. So I treat side events, Quick Wins, and board bonuses as my pickaxe pantry. I also keep an eye on the event timer; there is no point in saving a nearly completed board if the event ends while I am waiting for one more token. The best approach is to set a realistic target, enjoy the Halloween theme, and let the Wild Sticker be a bonus rather than a debt I owe to the dice gods.
